The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released a five-day weather forecast for the week starting November 29 to December 3. Kenya Met published the weather outlook after heavy rains in some parts of Nyanza region resulted in flash floods.
According to the forecast, Kenyans across the country should prepare for rainfall and a continuation of the cold season during this period.
Kenya Met stated that rainfall is expected to continue in eight regions including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Coast, North-western and North-eastern Kenya.
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley will experience morning rains over few places.

Kenya Met forecast
Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are expected over several places in these regions during the first half of the forecast period, reducing to few places thereafter.
Counties in these regions are Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, and Homabay
Other are Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot Counties.
However, isolated heavy rainfall events are likely to occur over some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Coast during the first half of the forecast period.
Daytime temperatures in parts of the Coast and North-eastern Kenya will hit highs exceeding 32°C.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which includes Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi counties, will experience chilly nights, with temperatures dropping below 9°C. Daytime temperatures will range between 27°C and 30°C.

North-western Kenya which comprises of Turkana and Samburu Counties will have morning rains as well as in the afternoon.
Night showers and thunderstorms are expected to occur over few places occasionally spreading to several places during the first half of the forecast period.
Parts of Kenya to Remain Dry
The north-eastern region, which includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, will experience only a few rains at the start of the forecast but will remain dry overall.
Night temperatures in this region will remain constant at 18°C, while daytime temperatures will exceed 36°C.
South-eastern lowlands which include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties as well as inland parts of Tana River County will have showers and thunderstorms over few places.
These counties will have minimum temperatures ranging between 13°C and 15°C, while maximum temperatures will range between 33°C and 35°C.
