Kyiv came under heavy attacks on Friday, November 14, affecting multiple districts as Russian forces stepped up strikes on critical infrastructure.
Missiles and drones struck key infrastructure in Kyiv, according to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv regional military administration.
Additionally, Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko described the assault as a “massive enemy attack” and confirmed that air defense systems were actively engaged.
In a Telegram post, Klitschko stated that one person was killed and at least 15 others were injured during the attacks, while over 40 people were rescued.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said emergency services have been responding to the sites of Russian attacks since Thursday night.
He confirmed that dozens of people were wounded, including children and a pregnant woman, while four people were killed.
According to Zelenskyy, the overnight assault involved about 430 drones and 18 missiles, including ballistic and aeroballistic missiles, and was deliberately aimed at causing maximum harm to civilians and infrastructure.
In Kyiv alone, dozens of apartment buildings were damaged, and debris from an Iskander missile struck the Azerbaijani Embassy.
The main targets were Kyiv, but strikes also affected the Kharkiv and Odesa regions, with preliminary reports indicating a Zircon missile was used in Sumy.
“This was a deliberately calculated attack aimed at causing maximum harm to people and civilian infrastructure. In Kyiv alone, dozens of apartment buildings have been damaged,” read part of the statement.
Kyiv Hit by Widespread Attacks, Multiple Districts Affected
Damage to the heating network left sections of the Desnyansky district temporarily without heat, and residents also faced interruptions to their electricity and water supplies.
Klitschko confirmed fires and structural damage in eight of Kyiv’s ten districts, with emergency medical teams deployed to each area.
In the overnight strike, a 55-year-old man in Bila Tserkva sustained thermal burns and was rushed to hospital.
A notable fire broke out on the roof of a five-story residential building in the Solomyansky district, a key transport hub close to Kyiv’s international airport.

Amid the ongoing attacks, Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, reported widespread damage to residential areas.
“Russians are hitting residential buildings. There are a lot of damaged high-rise buildings throughout Kyiv, almost in every district,” he said.
Zelenskyy Hits Russian Port
Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed that its forces had shot down more than 200 Ukrainian drones overnight on November 14.
Ukrainian drones targeted the Russian port city of Novorossiysk in Krasnodar Krai, damaging an oil terminal and sparking a major fire.
The attack struck the Sheskharis oil complex, a key infrastructure facility and major export terminal for pipelines operated by Russia’s state-run Transneft, the world’s largest oil pipeline company.
Further, the strike caused damage to several facilities and ignited a blaze.

The Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters confirmed the attack on the oil terminal and reported that several coastal facilities were also affected.
Officials said the fire at the Sheskharis complex had been brought under control.
Russian state media RIA Novosti additionally reported that a civilian vessel in the port was struck during the drone assault, leaving three crew members injured.
Head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, pointed out the effects of recent strikes on both military and civilian targets, citing that they had hit key infrastructure in the region.
“Meanwhile, Russia is hitting residential buildings and energy infrastructure.”
