U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted at new trade measures against countries supplying weapons to Iran.
In a Truth Social post on Wednesday, Trump warned that countries that supply Iran with weapons will face 50% tariffs on all goods to the United States with no exemptions or exclusions.
Donald Trump Tariff Measures
According to Trump, the tariff jump would take effect immediately.
The tariff, he noted, would apply to all goods imported into the United States from any nation identified as supplying weapons to Iran’s military or armed forces infrastructure.
“A Country supplying Military Weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions,” sastated Trump.
The announcement comes after Washington and Israel announced a two-week ceasefire.

In previous policy moves related to Iran, Trump on January 13 threatened 25% tariffs on countries doing business with Tehran, extending tariff leverage beyond weapons supplies to general trade.
“Effective immediately, any country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America,” stated Trump.
U.S. Signals New Direction in Iran Relations
President Donald Trump announced that the United States is prepared to work “closely with Iran” following what he described as a “very productive regime change” in Tehran, suggesting an end to hostilities and a new phase of cooperation.
On April 8, Trump said that Iran would no longer enrich uranium, a point he framed as a major concession in negotiations and pledged that the United States would begin discussions on tariff adjustments and sanctions relief with Iranian authorities.
“The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change! There will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear “Dust,” said Trump.

U.S. and Israel Ceasefire Operation
US President Donald Trump and Iran agreed to a last-minute ceasefire deal to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East on April 8.
The Israel Defense Forces has also announced a ceasefire in its operation against Iran following directives from Israel’s political leadership on April 8, 2026.
In a statement by the IDF, the defense force stated that Israel was ready to respond defensively against any violation of the ceasefire and will continue to operate across all fronts to defend Israel.
Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the ceasefire plan, stating that the plan was an international effort to promote diplomacy and urged the two states to commit to the deal.
Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Facebook statement, also said that the ceasefire must be built on commitment and security.
On his part, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on all parties to abide by the terms of the ceasefire.
Other states supporting the ceasefire plan included Malaysia, Australia, Oman, Indonesia, Germany, Japan, and Ukraine.
