Former National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer Patrick Osoi has launched a new political and activist movement aimed at confronting police brutality and state impunity in Kenya.
The group, called Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI), brings together former NIS and police officers who say they are taking a stand for justice following the deadly June 25, 2024, protests.
Further, Osoi, in a statement, noted that the movement was born from a shared resolution among them to stand with Kenyans who have suffered under state-sanctioned violence.
They also aim to demand justice for victims of police brutality, including those killed or injured during the June 25, 2024, protests.
“Having served as an NIS officer, I’ve seen what happens behind the curtain. Together with fellow officers who believe in justice and humanity, we are taking a stand. This is not just a movement, it’s a mission,” said Osoi.

What Exactly Will the Former Officers Do?
According to the statement, Osoi will be working together with former officer Cop Shakur and former US Army Veteran Kimathi Hiram.
The movement will fight for:
- Victims of unlawful police killings and assaults
- Police officers who were used to carry out illegal orders then abandoned
- Families of those killed or disappeared during crackdowns
- Institutional reform within the police and intelligence systems
“Our mandate is to bring justice to our people, and we will fight tooth and nail to achieve it,” Osoi declared.
Following the deadly protests in the country, human rights groups have estimated that over 50 people were killed, with many more injured or arrested.
However, despite public outcry, few officers have been held accountable.
The newly formed FBI movement has promised to fight the brutality from inside the security system itself.
“The FBI (Fighting Brutality and Impunity). We have teamed up for a bigger course than ourselves we have to set this country free from all forms of impunity and injustices,” Kimathi stated.

Ex-NIS Osoi is a Presidential Candidate
Furthermore, Osoi has revealed plans to run for President in the 2027 General Election, presenting himself as a reformist candidate willing to clean up institutions that have been accused of corruption, impunity, and human rights abuses.
His campaign, though still informal, is riding on a platform of truth, accountability, and justice for the oppressed.
“We present ourselves to fight for the rights of every Kenyan mistreated by the police who follow illegal orders, victims of the June 25th 2024 and subsequent times,”
“Families of those killed during all these times, police officers and former police officers who have been neglected by the same system they fight for,” stated Osoi.
