Universities typically confer honorary degrees during graduation ceremonies or special convocations.
Recipients are carefully selected by the university’s senate or academic council following a nomination and vetting process.
Candidates are chosen for their exceptional contributions to society in areas such as public service, science, education, the arts, sports, or humanitarian efforts.
The Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, the degree awarded to Chebet, is traditionally reserved for individuals who have demonstrated significant humanitarian impact or advanced human welfare through their life’s work.
It recognizes those who embody values such as integrity, dedication, and social responsibility, serving as inspirations to current and future generations.
