High Commission of the Republic of Kenya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has warned Kenyans against travelling to the Asian country for jobs.
In a statement on January 23, the Commission said its attention has been drawn to the recent surge in the number of Kenyans being lured to travel to Malaysia in the pretext of securing job opportunities which turn out to be non-existent.
The High Commission explained that certain unscrupulous recruitment agencies and individuals are exploiting the 30-day visa-free entry, leaving unsuspecting Kenyans stranded and abandoned.
The victims are often burdened with the costs of return air tickets and overstay fines.
“Please be advised on the need for due diligence before embarking on any travel arrangements. The High Commission remains available to assist in conducting the necessary due diligence on any job opportunities in Malaysia or country(s) of accreditation,” the Commission said.
Kenya – Malaysia Visa Free Entry
Additionally, the High Commission informed all Kenyans in Malaysia or planning to travel to Malaysia that the 30 days visa free entry is based on a bilateral arrangement on reciprocity.
For this reason, Kenyans who wish to stay for more than the 30 days should obtain a stay visa or risk being charged by the Malaysian government.
“All Kenyans wishing to stay more than the 30 days are required under Malaysian Immigration Laws to regularize their stay by obtaining a valid stay visa to avoid being charged for overstay and other related offences,” the High Commission said.
“This is to caution that any overstay case is an offence under Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155), and if arrested one is liable for up to six months imprisonment or a fine as may be determined by the court.”
This comes after that travelers holding Kenyan passports can visit Malaysia without the need for a tourist visa in 2025.
Applicants are only required to be present when applying for the Malaysia Visa free.
Applicants need a passport, travel itinerary and proof of funds while applying for the Malaysia Visa free.

How to Apply
Kenyan citizens can obtain a Malaysia tourist visa by following these 4 steps
1.Valid Passport
Check your Kenya passport is valid with at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended stay in Malaysia, if not, apply for a new Kenya passport, the passport must also have at least one blank page for visa stamps.
2.Arrival
Upon arrival in Malaysia, go to the immigration counter to begin the immigration clearance process, make sure you have all the required documents ready.

3.Fill Application Form
You will fill out a visa application form available at the immigration counter.
The form requires personal information, passport details, and intended travel plans to Malaysia.
4.Receive Visa
If your application is approved, you will receive your Malaysia visa via email, once you receive your visa, download and print the e-visa and carry it with you when traveling to Malaysia.
