Ahmed Abdullahi Jiir is a Kenyan politician, currently serving as the Governor of Wajir County.
Abdullahi joined politics in 2007 and was first elected governor in 2013.
He was born in 1973.

Career
Ahmed Abdullahi began his professional career as an auditor at Deloitte & Touche, working in both the Nairobi and New York offices until approximately 2007.
During this period, he also worked as a Business Turnaround Advisor on secondment with Barclays Bank.
He later served as Finance Director and Group Chief Officer at Hass Petroleum and chaired the Board of Directors at Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE).
His entrance into politics came in 2013, when he was elected as the first Governor of Wajir County under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
He was defeated in the 2017 general election by a Jubilee Party candidate but mounted a successful political comeback in August 2022, reclaiming the governorship on an ODM ticket.
His reelection was affirmed by the Supreme Court in May 2023, which dismissed a petition challenging the result.

Before ascending further, he served as Vice Chairperson of the Council of Governors. On 7 October 2024, he was elected Chairperson of the Council of Governors, succeeding Anne Waiguru of Kirinyaga County.
He serves alongside Deputy Chair Mutahi Kahiga and took up this national role amid discussions on universal healthcare under Kenya’s Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF)
