The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced internship opportunities for qualified candidates in four key areas of specialization.
In an advertisement published on Wednesday, May 14, TSC invited eligible applicants to apply for 30 positions, which fall under the Government Internship Policy and Guidelines for the Public Service.
“In line with Government Internship Policy and Guidelines for the Public Service, the Commission intends to offer internship opportunity to qualified youth in various areas of specialization to gain practical work experience which will improve their competencies and competitiveness in their career life,” read part of the advertisement.
The internships are available in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) department which has 5 vacancies, Human Resource Management & Development (10), Records Management (13) and Counselling (2) fields.
Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must also meet the following requirements:

Be Kenyan citizens aged between 21 and 35 years.

Hold a degree or diploma from a recognized and accredited institution.

Have graduated within the last two to five years.

Be currently unemployed.

Not have previously participated in an internship within the public sector.

Possess a valid Certificate of Good Conduct at the time of engagement.

Personal attributes and basic requirements
Ideal candidates should be persons of integrity who are goal-oriented, self-driven, dynamic, and diligent. They must also demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and be effective team players.
The internship program will run for a period of twelve months.
While the positions are non-remunerative, TSC said that successful interns will receive a monthly stipend of Ksh25,000.
For the ICT positions, applicants must have graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Software Engineering, Informatics and Computer Science, Computer Networks and Cyber Security, Business Information Technology, Information Security and Forensics, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
For Records Management, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in information science, Records and Archives Management, Library Science, or a Bachelor of Technology in Information Studies. Alternatively, a Higher National Diploma in Records/Archive Management or Information Studies from a recognized institution is acceptable.
According to TSC, knowledge of Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS) and experience in using computerized office applications will be an added advantage.
For Human Resource Management and Development, applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a Higher National Diploma in the same field from a recognized institution.
A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Business Administration, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution combined with a Diploma in Human Resource Management is also acceptable.

For the Counsellor positions, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in counselling psychology or psychology (Counselling), or a Diploma in Counselling Psychology from a recognized institution.
How to apply for the TSC internships
Selected interns will be required to have a valid personal accident insurance to cover for personal risks during the internship period.
Also, interns will be required to have a valid personal medical insurance cover for the duration of the internship.
TSC said that successful applicants could be deployed either to its headquarters or County offices.

Candidates who meet the above requirements should submit their applications by May 26, 2025.
The commission further indicated that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted using email address or telephone contacts provided during application and that the vacancies are purely an internship programme that will not lead to automatic employment at TSC.
Provision of false information will lead to automatic disqualification.
