Blankets & Wine has issued an update on the refund of drinks and duplicate mobile payments during its September edition.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 10, the Blankets and Wine team said the refund process is currently underway.
The organizers said the process involves “a detailed validation effort” between the finance and vendor teams, adding that transparency and accountability remain central to their operations.

“We take every concern seriously,” said Communications Manager Diane Ywaya. “When fans raise an issue, we investigate it thoroughly, identify what went wrong, and fix it. That’s how we continue to grow with our community.”
The festival team expressed gratitude to attendees for their patience as the refund process continues, following widespread reports of drink shortages and delayed service during the September event.
“Our internal audit helped us refine not just systems, but also our relationship with the audience. “We’ve listened, learned, and applied those lessons to build a better experience for everyone,” the statement read.

Music Festival Celebrates 17th Anniversary Ahead of December 21st Kenyan Summer Edition
The update came as the iconic festival marked its 17th birthday over the weekend at a private event in Nairobi.
The celebration provided the Blankets & Wine team with a moment to reflect on nearly two decades of growth, challenges, and transformation, ahead of the highly anticipated Kenyan Summer Edition, scheduled for December 21, 2025, at Laureate Gardens, Kasarani.
“Despite the challenges of the past edition, enthusiasm around Blankets & Wine remains strong, with fans taking to social media to speculate on the upcoming artist lineup for the December 21 edition of Kenyan Summer 2025 at Laureate Gardens, Kasarani,” the organizers noted.
Blankets and Wines founder Muthoni Ndonga hailed the dedication of the team behind the festival’s longevity.
“The team’s enduring commitment has been the magic of making it to 17,” she said. “No two editions of the festival are the same, and without the passion and care the team puts in, there really would be no Blankets & Wine.”
On her part, the Head of Festivals, Justine Mbugua, described the milestone as a moment for introspection and renewal.
She stated that their work in creating a space for connection and delight for audiences stems from the heart, and while it is often challenging, it is necessary for developing the live music sector and stimulating the economy.
“Our 17-year history is a story of love and learning. Marking our birthday gives us a chance to look within and reaffirm our commitment and enthusiasm to keep getting better,” she said
Independent Architectural Review Underway to Redesign Festival Layout
As part of reforms aimed at improving the festival experience, the organisers have engaged an independent architectural team to redesign the event’s venue layout, focusing on improving crowd flow, accessibility, and overall comfort.
“We brought in an independent architectural team last week to review the venue from a user-experience perspective,” said Brand Manager Michelle Njeri.
“Their mandate is simple — redesign flow, ease crowd movement, and ensure the layout reflects the scale and ambition of Kenyan Summer 2025.”

Addressing recent speculation about the September edition, organisers clarified that they have no case to answer and that no formal legal complaints have been filed by any authority.
“Blankets & Wine has always been that space for you to discover, love, and share,” Ywaya said. “We are humbled by the excitement around our artist reveal and grateful for a community that continues to grow with us.”
