Ololo Safari Lodge and Farm has become one of Kenya’s notable destinations for eco-tourism and wildlife experiences.
The property, located on the edge of Nairobi National Park, was purchased in 2008 by the Chapman family, who relocated from Australia.
Originally an old homestead, the farm was converted over five years into a lodge that combines accommodation with a regenerative farm supplying fresh produce.
The name Ololo is of Maasai origin, brought to the property by a previous owner who had moved from the Maasai Mara.
Locals explain that the name may refer to meandering like a river—reflecting the lodge’s location along the Mbagathi River—or to a “meeting place,” referencing a historic gathering spot at the Oloololo ridge.
Accommodation options at Ololo include converted stables, tented cottages with makuti thatch, original suites in the main house, and two family cottages.
Visitors can enjoy year-round comfort with features such as a fire pit in the garden, a fireplace in the living room, and access to a stone-clad cellar and a small library.
