Mercy Masika, a Kenyan gospel singer, has announced “Becoming a Wife,” a marriage masterclass featuring Lady, designed to help women prepare for marriage and understand the responsibilities that come with being a wife.
The seven-session masterclass, featuring Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna as guest speaker, guides women toward biblical marriage.
Mercy Masika noted that the guest speaker is among the empowered women who honor God and their husbands.
“I have been blessed with amazing mentors in my marriage journey, and Lady Bishop has been such a powerful example of an empowered woman who honors God and her husband. I am so glad she is part of these classes, empowering women who want to do marriage God’s way. Grateful for wisdom that shapes both heart and mindset,” Rev Masika noted.
According to Mercy, the sessions are scheduled to run from November 21 to December 12, 2026.
Mercy Masika Age, Education, and Career
Mercy Masika released her debut album, Nobody Like Jesus, in 1994, when she was 12. The project featured her mother, Agnes Masika, and gospel singer Hellen Mtawali.

Masika had already begun developing a gospel music career, encouraged by her upbringing in a family with strong musical and Christian roots.
Her mother had worked as a presenter on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation’s gospel programmes, including Sing and Shine. Mercy and her siblings were introduced to television performances through programmes such as Joy Bringers.
The following year, Masika formed a singing group, creating another platform to develop her musical talent.
Masika later served as choir director at Machakos Girls High School and released a second record, Roses Will Bloom Again, which was produced by gospel musician Reuben Kigame.
After joining Daystar University in 2002, she continued developing her music and worked with producer Robert Kamanzi, popularly known as R Kay.
Their collaboration produced Wendo Waku, an album featuring songs largely in Kiswahili and Kikamba. Its tracks included Amukomete and Nisamehe.
Masika said personal experience shapes her songwriting, noting that she finds it difficult to sing about something she hasn’t felt.
The Fashion Dream She Carried From Primary School
In 2021, she launched Masi Wear, a fashion line inspired by a childhood interest in clothing design.
In an interview, Masika revealed that the American television soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful influenced her interest in fashion. Watching the characters and their clothing designs inspired her to sketch outfits in her books.
She said she continued drawing designs from primary school through secondary school, long before turning the interest into a business.
The idea eventually became a fashion brand, with clothes carrying Bible verses and messages intended to encourage wearers.
Masika explained that the designs reflected her Christian identity while balancing modesty and style.

Mercy Masika’s Work With Refugees
In June 2019, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) appointed Mercy Masika a Goodwill Ambassador in Kenya.
Before her appointment, she supported UNHCR’s LuQuLuQu campaign, which seeks to change negative attitudes toward African refugees and raise awareness of the challenges people face when forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution.
Her work included visits to Kakuma Refugee Camp, where she interacted with refugee families, women who had experienced sexual and gender-based violence, and young people interested in pursuing music.
She also performed at TEDxKakumaCamp, an event hosted in a refugee camp, with backup dancers drawn from the refugee community.
Masika said her Christian faith shaped her belief that refugees deserved compassion and support, no matter where they came from.
Family
Mercy Masika was born into a family with strong Christian roots; her father was a church bishop, and she has spoken about growing up as a bishop’s daughter and witnessing the sacrifices that come with church ministry.
Her mother, Agnes Masika, is a church minister who was also involved in gospel broadcasting.
Masika is married to David Muguro, a businessman and videographer who also manages her music career.
The couple met in 2007 at a wedding in Lang’ata, where Mercy performed while David worked as a videographer, and the two got married in 2008.
The couple have two children together, a daughter named Ranise and a son named Tevita.
In August 2026, Masika and her husband entered a new chapter in their shared Christian ministry when they were ordained as Reverends.
Masika said she spent years questioning whether she could carry the responsibilities of ministry. As the daughter of a bishop, she witnessed the sacrifices involved and wrestled with what it would mean to answer the same calling.
