The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced that it is developing the Integrated Master Plans for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Wilson Airport (WAP) to guide future developments and enhance service delivery.
In a notice on Sunday, July 20, KAA said the master planning process includes a comprehensive Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) being undertaken by Dar Al Handasah Consultants (Shair and Partners) and Geodev (K) Ltd.
It explained that the plan is in accordance with the guidelines of the Environmental Management and Coordination Act, 1999.
KAA said the SESA process requires broad stakeholder engagement, involving neighboring communities, organizations, and individuals who may be affected by, or have an interest in, the planning and future operations of the two airports.
“We therefore invite interested parties to attend the following public participation meeting scheduled as follows,” KAA said.
The exercise will be held at six venues, three for each of the airports.
JKIA Public Participation
The first public participation exercise will be held at Syokimau Chief’s Grounds in Syokimau on July 22, 2025.
This will be followed by another one at the Social Hall in Embakasi on July 24th.
The last session will be held at Mihang’o Chief’s Office in Utawala the next day.

KAA Asks Kenyans to Attend
According to KAA, the main purpose of the meetings is to inform the public and stakeholders about its intention to develop the JKIA and Wilson Airport master plans.
The meetings will also explain the scope of the planning process and gather input, views, and concerns from attendees.
“Your participation will help shape the future of these airports and ensure that community issues are well understood and taken into account. Your participation and engagement will be highly appreciated,” KAA said.
