Parliament has revised its list of nominees for state honors just one day after publishing the initial version.
The updated list, released on October 8, features additions and omissions, including three new female leaders and the removal of three others.
Among those dropped from the original October 7 nomination list are Eve Akinyi Obare, MP for Kabondo Kasipul, and two nominated senators, Hamida Ali Kibwana and Beth Kalunda Syengo.
Their exclusion has yet to be explained publicly.
3 Politicians Added to the List
“It is notified to the general public that the parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee has proposed the persons listed for conferment of the corresponding National Honours and Awards,” read the notice.

State Honors Awards
The National Honors System is one of Kenya’s highest forms of civilian recognition.
It celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, heroism, patriotism, and impactful achievements across various sectors.
The honors fall under several categories.
- Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS)
- Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS)
- Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS)
- Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW).

According to the Parliamentary Honors Advisory Committee, members of the public have until October 13 at 5:00 p.m. to submit their feedback or objections regarding the nominees.
Submissions are to be sent via email to [email protected]
When Are the Awards Issued
The public vetting process is intended to ensure transparency and accountability in the selection of honorees.
The state honors are typically awarded during national celebrations, including Jamhuri Day and Mashujaa Day, where the President officially recognizes citizens who have rendered outstanding service to the country.
As the deadline for public input approaches, all eyes will be on whether further revisions will be made or if the current list will stand as the final one.
