A grade three pupil at Kari Primary school is nursing severe injuries at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after dogs mauled her on her way from school.
The young girl sustained bruises on her back, hands, and thighs.
A quick intervention from teachers and villagers saved the girl from four stray dogs that were dragging her into a thicket.
Doctors say she is out of danger but will continue to receive treatment before discharge.
Last week in the same area, a grade five pupil was scared by the same dogs as she returned from school.
John Mokobi, an elder, said that four goats were eaten by the same dogs a fortnight ago.
