An accident at Koitamugul along Narok-Bomet Road in Narok County claimed the lives of three people and left eight others with serious injuries.
The Wednesday, July 20 evening road accident involved a matatu belonging to Galaxy Sacco which collided with a lorry.
Police reports states that, the matatu driver was trying to avoid hitting a boda boda rider when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with an oncoming lorry.
Moreover, the matatu carrying 10 passengers was heading in Narok’s direction when the boda boda heading in the same direction got in the way.
“He (matatu driver) tried to avoid hitting the said motorcycle and lost control… The matatu rolled several times and hit the lorry that was travelling in the opposite direction,” read part of the police report on the incident.
Unfortunately, three passengers in the matatu, including, a woman and two men, died on the spot while others were seriously injured.

In addition, the driver of the lorry and his passenger came out of the incident unhurt, while the boda boda rider fled the scene on the motorcycle.
Nonetheless, those who sustained injuries were rushed to Longisa County Referral Hospital. The bodies of the deceased were also moved to the same hospital’s mortuary awaiting identification.
Furthermore, the remains of the matatu and the slightly damaged lorry were towed to Ololulunga Police Station pending inspection.
