Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has said that female MPs will rally behind their own who have been nominated for Cabinet Secretary positions.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Elachi said its obvious that men will round up and protect fellow men thus, the need for women to protect their own during vetting.
“Since they have brought men who are questionable as Cabinet nominees, no woman shall be questioned,”Elachi said
A total of eight women were nominated to Cabinet including seven picked for CS positions and one as Secretary to the Cabinet.
The women Cabinet Secretary nominees include Alice Wahome (Water), Aisha Jumwa (Public Service), and Rebecca Miano (EAC, Arid and Semi-arid lands).
Others are Soipan Tuya (Environment), Susan Wafula (Health), Peninah Malonza (Tourism) and Florence Bore (Labour and Social protection).
Mercy Wanjau was nominated Secretary to the Cabinet while Monica Juma was nominated to hold the national security adviser position.
The nominees are expected to face parliamentarians in a process that will either confirm or reject their nomination to the Cabinet.
With the Kenya Kwanza coalition commanding the house majority, the nominees are expected to easily sail through the vetting process.
House Speaker Moses Wetangula is expected to lead the committee that will conduct the vetting before submitting a report to the whole house for debate and subsequent approval or rejection.
