Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has criticized Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition over calls for mass action against the President William Ruto-led government.
While speaking on Sunday, November 27 at CITAM church the deputy president dismissed Azimio’s planned public engagements over the ongoing investigations on four IEBC commissioners.
Moreover, DP Gachagua challenged Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka to allow their children (Winnie Odinga and Kennedy Musyoka), who have been elected as EALA MPs, to lead the mass action.
“If they want the people to go to the street, they must lead by example. These people who want our children to go to the street have organized for their children to serve in EALA in Arusha. Let your daughter and son come from Arusha and physically lead the demonstrations and the rest of Kenya can follow,” Gachagua said.
Nonetheless, Mr. Odinga on Sunday, November 27 echoed his plan to transverse the country, and hold public engagements on the plan to remove the four IEBC Commissioners from office.

“We are going to consult widely with the people of Kenya, beginning Wednesday in Nairobi. We will have a meeting with the people at Kamukunji Grounds to ask them if they accept that these commissioners should go home,” Raila said.
He further added that they will do the same in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu and Kakamega because an independent electoral commission is the referee and cannot be appointed by a player.
Likewise, the petitions seeking the removal of the four IEBC commissioners from office are currently before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) of the National Assembly.
The commissioners including Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi, and Justus Nyang’aya are accused of gross misconduct, abuse of office, violation of the Constitution, and taking sides in the August 9 General Election.
