Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has been nominated as an Amujae Leader in the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (EJS) Presidential Center for Women and Leadership.
Waiguru shared the news via her social media, expressing her enthusiasm upon the selection.
“To have been selected from a long list of accomplished women leaders from across the continent is both a great encouragement to me and a fomenting of hope in my quest for gender equality,” she wrote on her social media.
Waiguru stated that she is looking forward to working with the former President drawing from the program’s network, accomplished public servants, inaugural Amujae leaders as well as her fellow cohort members from across the continent.
The Amujae Initiative is the EJS’ flagship program designed to boost women leaders and accelerate their leadership journeys.
EJS was founded, by former Liberian Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the first female head of state in Africa.
“I reiterate my commitment to passing on the knowledge and skills I will acquire to other women so we can together secure more equal female representation at critical decision tables, thereby influencing the trajectory of the African continent towards our shared ultimate destiny,” she stated.
