Kotex Kenya “Deal” with Karen Nyamu
Karen’s response followed her announcement that she had reached an agreement with Kotex Kenya to supply tampons to schools, especially those in the slums.
In a statement on June 30, she shared her excitement on social media stating, “On that note, my foundation has had a series of meetings with @kotexkenya to negotiate on a good deal so that we supply free tampons in schools particularly in our slums and I’m so excited,” Nyamu said.
Additionally, Karen noted the prevalent misconceptions about tampons and offered to educate girls in Nairobi on their proper use.
“I notice there’s a lot of misreading when it comes to those things. I will be teaching girls in Nairobi who are interested how to use tampons aka bullets. And since you don’t feel them at all on those days, it will make you focus more on school,” Nyamu said.

Karen Calls out Kotex Kenya
Following Kotex Kenya distancing itself with her remarks, Karen Nyamu criticized them noting that they chickened out based on harsh comments from netizens.
Additionally, she questioned them about which part of her statement was fake while revealing that representatives from her foundation were in Kotex offices to discuss the best discounts they will give.
“@Kotex Kenya don’t be chickens. A few threatening comments here and there and hours later you post this, lol. So, what exactly is fake? You had Enos and Cindy in your offices this week and we’re just waiting for communication on the best discounts you will give us,”
Likewise, she told them to look at the collaboration as an opportunity to demystify and expand their market citing that those threatening them are not their clients.
“If you look at my comments, there’s a lot of misconceptions on tampons and this is a great opportunity to demystify and expand your market. Those threatening you are not even your clients,” Karen said.
However, Karen Nyamu has since apologized to Kotex Kenya for the backlash they may have faced due to her remarks while assuring that her intention was not to set them up.
“As for Kotex Kenya I feel sorry for the backlash you had to endure yesterday due to my political stand at a time when political temperatures in the country are hot, forcing you to make the statement you made. our aim is not to set you up so we will let it rest there, “she said.
In addition, Karen expressed optimism in the project as she noted that she looked forward to engaging the ground to make a difference
“This project will come to fruition. Nothing excites me and lights my soul like engaging the ground to make a difference,” she added.
