X, formerly Twitter on June 21 deactivated the account of former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
Users attempting to access the account are met with a message indicating “This account doesn’t exist.”
Despite the deactivation, Sonko’s account could still be searched and found on the platform for several hours before completely disappearing.
This anomaly has left many of his followers puzzled, sparking speculation and discussion across social media platforms.
As of now, the reasons behind the account’s deactivation remain unclear, and there has been no official statement from X or from Sonko himself.
Social Media Account Deactivations
This is not the first Mike Sonko’s social media accounts have been deactivated.
His Facebook page, which had 2.5 million followers, was suspended in March 2023 due to his stand on the LGBTQ community.
Sonko refused to apologize for these posts, attributing the suspension to complaints from LGBTQ supporters
