IG Statement on Accidents
Acting Inspector General (IG) of Police, Gilbert Masengeli issued a statement over the increasing number of road accidents on August 24.
In his statement, Masengeli said the National Police Service (NPS) is deeply concerned about the hike in road traffic accidents especially along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.
Masengeli said the accidents resulted from drivers’ behavior and recklessness, adding that traffic accidents have led to multiple fatalities, especially in June 2024.
“It is quite regrettable that most of these road crashes have been associated with human misbehavior, particularly speeding, recklessness, driving under the influence of alcohol, and dangerous overtaking,” Masengeli said.
