Armed goons have stormed the offices of the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) in Nairobi, where a press conference by a group of Kenyan mothers was scheduled to take place.
According to a statement from KHRC, the women were to hold a presser ahead of the Saba Saba protests.
Further, the commission noted that the attackers disrupted preparations for the event, which was set to begin at 1:30 PM at KHRC headquarters.
The offices are located on 849 Amboseli Road, off Gitanga Road.

Details of Even Interrupted by Goons
The event was organized by mothers demanding justice for their children who have faced arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings for participating in recent street demonstrations.
“Armed goons have attacked offices of the Kenya Human Rights Commission where a press conference was due to be held this afternoon by Kenyan mothers on the eve of Saba Saba,” a statement from the Women’s Collective Kenya read in part.
Moreover, the mothers were expected to issue a joint statement calling for an immediate end to state-linked violence and suppression of protestors ahead of the Saba Saba demonstrations planned for Monday, July 7.
According to reports, the goons entered the premises armed and forced their way into the venue before the planned press briefing.
However, it is unclear whether the group was acting on instructions from any known authority or political group, but activists have condemned the act as a clear intimidation tactic.

Passaris on Saba Saba Attacks
Earlier, Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris alleged that certain individuals, including foreigners have sponsored the Saba Saba demonstrations scheduled for Monday, July 7, 2025.
Also, Passaris said that foreign involvement in local protests puts Kenyan citizens at risk, urging those planning to protest during Saba Saba to do so peacefully.
“I know from the messages I’ve received that there are people outside the country funding these kinds of movements in Kenya,
“You live outside, but you’re leaving Kenyans here. Those calling for the invasion of government institutions are not on the front lines. It is our innocent children and desperate families who are going to lose their lives,” she said.
