Casualties have been reported in an accident along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
According to a police report, a Dreamliner bus hit a Tuktuk, leaving one person dead and 10 others nursing injuries.
The crash occurred near Kinyambu, along the busy highway in Makueni County.
The bus was headed from Nairobi to Mombasa when the incident happened.
Reports show that the accident happened around midnight and was allegedly caused by a disruption from a tuk-tuk.
Some of the victims were admitted to Amref-Kibwezi Hospital, while others are receiving treatment at Makindu Hospital.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
MP Shah Chania Boys High School Accident
In a separate incident, students of MP Shah Chania Boys High School were stranded in Naivasha on the same night after their bus was involved in an accident.
The students were forced to spend the night in Naivasha before resuming their journey to Thika on Sunday morning.
It is reported that the school bus collided with a lorry at Kinungi along the busy Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
None of the students sustained injuries during the accident.
However, the bus briefly disrupted traffic, forcing vehicles to use alternative routes to continue their journey.
Traffic marshals and police officers arrived at the scene and helped direct traffic.

NTSA Accident Statistics
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) report shows that 5,856 people were involved in road crashes between January 1 and March 31.
NTSA noted that the figures show a decrease of 1,908 cases compared to the same period in 2024.
Out of this, 1,139 people lost their lives, 3,316 individuals sustained serious injuries, while 2,693 suffered minor injuries.
Road crashes claimed 420 pedestrian lives in the first quarter of 2025, making them the most vulnerable road users, though the figure dropped from 434 in the same period last year.

Various crashes also killed 189 passengers and 83 drivers — both numbers lower than the 243 passengers and 94 drivers who died in 2024.
However, motorcycle crashes claimed more lives, with 301 motorcyclists dying, up from 274 the previous year.
Deaths among pillion passengers also rose to 130 from 100. Pedal cyclist fatalities slightly declined to 16, down from 21 in 2024.
