Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has ordered Inspector General (IG) of Police Douglas Kanja to arrest and present Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo before the Senate.
This ruling came after Governor Guyo repeatedly failed to appear before Senate committees.
The Speaker ruled that governors’ appearances before the committee are not a favor to the House.
“The Senate had issued summons to governor to appear and in which the governor failed to appear. To liaise with the Inspector General of Police as a matter of urgency I require the inspector General of police before the respective committees at a determined date and time,” Speaker Kingi said.
“This is not a favor that the Senate or its committees are asking of the Inspector The defiance displayed by the Governor of Isiolo in respect to invitations summons cannot persist.”
