Bondo won the seat in the 2022 general elections on an independent ticket.
He won with 4,041 votes against ODM candidate Peter Ongili who got 3,975 votes.
However, Oyugis Magistrate Court in Homa Bay County invalidated his victory after Ongili filed on August 30, 2022, challenging the election.
Ongili claimed that there were irregularities in the election.
Bondo appealed the decision at the high court in Homa Bay.

UoN Students Oppose Court Decision
The University of Nairobi Student Association (UNSA) protested the nullification of his election.
Bondo served as the student leader during his time at UoN.
UNSA accused unnamed individuals of using strategies to intimidate youthful leaders.
“As the University of Nairobi Students Association, we would like to express our concern regarding the recent court decision to nullify the results of the elections involving a former student leader from our institution, Vickins Bondo,” read the statement.
“It is disheartening to see that given individuals are using underhanded tactics to intimidate young, ambitious leaders who are ready to take the reins of leadership.”

Vickins Bondo Election Reinstated
In July 2023, Justice Waweru Kiarie reversed the ruling by the lower court.
He ruled that Bondo was validly elected and should continue serving as MCA.
The judge said the Oyugis Magistrate Court committed some errors when delivering his judgment that nullified the election.
“All parties were not involved to deliberate on the alleged discrepancies between the counterfoil and the total valid votes cast in the polling station,” Kiarie said.
He has been the Chairperson of Vickins Bondo Foundation since July 2019 to date.
Bondo holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Nairobi (UoN).
