The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has mourned the death of two long-serving members, including one who was a close friend to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
In a statement on July 21, the party announced the death of Mzee Shadrack Arap Siele and Mama Everlyne Cheluget.
ODM said the two were strong members of the party until their deaths.
The Party said Mama Cheluget was one of the founders of the Party and a life member from Uasin Gishu County.
She took part in the activities of ODM and was active in its operations until the week that ended on July 19, 2025.
ODM described her as a precious soul and a caring mother.
“Mama Everlyne Cheluget, our Life Member from Uasin County and one of the founders of the Movement,” ODM said.
“She has, until her death last week, been an active member of the party and always participated in party activities. ODM has lost a gem, a loving and caring mother. RIP Mama Cheluget.”

Raila’s Friend
Besides, ODM described Siele as a regular face in the Chungwa House and Raila’s trusted friend.
The Party described him as a patriarch of his family and the father of ODM in Kericho and South Rift.
“A good soul has flown away to be with the Lord. Mzee Shadrack Arap Siele was not new to Orange House and presently Chungwa House. An old and trusted friend of the party leader, Raila Odinga. RIP Mzee Siele,” ODM mourned him.

ODM Mourns Former MP
This comes after the death of former Karachuonyo Member of Parliament (MP) Phoebe Asiyo Muga.
The family announced on July 17 that Muga died in North Carolina United States at the age of 92.
ODM described her as a trailblazer in Kenya’s political landscape and women’s rights movements.
She passed away peacefully in North Carolina She later became the first African woman to chair Maendeleo Ya Wanawake in 1958, a national women’s movement, which she left to join elective politics.
