Ex-military officer and security expert Patrick Osoi has been arrested.
A statement from his communication team on Wednesday, July 30 indicated that the U.S veteran was in police custody.
“Patrick Osoi is being held at Muthaiga Police Station & being charged with preparation to commit felony,” read an update from his X account.
Early, it was reported that Osoi was picked up by heavily armed men on the night of Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
The reason for his abduction and his whereabouts remains unknown.
“Free Patrick Osoi. He was abducted last night by a contingent of heavily armed men. Reasons for this are still unknown,” reads part of the statement.
Osoi is a declared presidential aspirant for the 2027 general election, campaigning on a platform of security reform, anti-corruption, governance reforms, and economic revitalization.
He has publicly criticized President William Ruto’s economic policies, extrajudicial killings and police brutality.
Osoi criticized the police authorities for their preliminary statements suggesting possible connections to cults, serial killers, or rogue medical practitioners.
In one instance, he accused the government of orchestrating the extrajudicial killings to suppress public dissent over the high cost of living and unemployment.
“The extrajudicial killings that are taking place appear to be a clear violation of international human rights treaties that Kenya has ratified, particularly the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Conventions against Torture and Enforced Disappearances,” Osoi said.
Formations of Kenya’s FBI
In a statement on July 28, Osoi announced the formation of Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI), which brings together officers with the same agenda of fighting for Kenyans.
He mentioned that Cop Shakur and Police Constable Hiram Kimathi are part of the FBI.
“Having served as a KDF Special Forces Soldier, NIS officer and a US Army Veteran, I have taken the solemn initiative of bringing together cops who share the same ideology of fighting for Kenyans by forming a movement dubbed Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI). Together with Cop Shakur and Hiram Kimathi, we present ourselves to fight for the rights of every Kenyan mistreated by the police who follow illegal orders, victims of the June 25th 2024 and subsequent times, families of those killed during all these times, police officers and former police officers who have been neglected by the same system they fight for,” he said.
Osoi stated that the FBI’s mandate is to bring justice to our people, and they will fight tooth to nail to achieve it.

Patrick Osoi, Cop Shakur & Hiram Kimathi Ready to Fight for Kenyans
On July 29, Osoi posted a photo of himself with Cop Shakur and Constable Hiram on his X page.
He affirmed that he would rather die with his head high, his faith unshaken, and a profound trust in the destiny of all Kenyans than live in modern-day slavery and capture by the political elitism.
Osoi argued that the walls built to divide, silence and hold power in place can always be broken.
“This day, I choose dignity over chains, courage over fear, and freedom over oppression. No force can silence the truth. No walls can stand against the people who refuse to kneel. And as Kenyans, we refuse to kneel to oppression! This initiative we have taken comes at a cost, a heavy one to pay. But what’s the point of staying silent when my fellow countrymen and women can’t afford basic needs or when the Constitution of Kenya (CoK) can no longer protect them?” he asked.
He went ahead to announce that the FBI has a political party which will be unveiled soon.

Govt Weaponizing the Police Service
Osoi has also accused the government of weaponizing and politicizing the National Police Service (NPS).
He argues that the police are also humans with independent voices and should not be punished for taking a position contradictory to their superiors.
“We cannot weaponize and politicize the police force, especially punishment, to perceived rebels in the forces. Before being police officers, they are humans and Kenyans who have an independent voice,” he said.
“It is in every right to transfer police officers, but it’s not right if they are done so to punish them for speaking a contrary opinion, which they’re right.”
