The East African Portland Cement (EAPC Plc) has announced that it is selling the disputed pieces of land within Mavoko, Athi River.
In a notice on Tuesday, October 17, the cement company stated that it would give priority to individuals who were already occupying the said pieces of land.
Additionally, the notice stated that those who were being evicted ought to state their claim on the land within the following 14 days.
“East African Portland Cement wishes to notify members of the public of its offer to sell the above referenced parcels of land (REGULARIZATION OF LR NO. 8784/144, 145 & 653 MAVOKO) via a regularization model.
“First and preferential priority shall be offered to the parties currently occupying sections of the said parcels. Those in this kind of situation are advised to state their claim of the same within 14 days from the date of this notice,” the notice read in part.
Portland Cement Deadline Warning
Moreover, the company stated that the pieces of land would be offered to the general public if they remained unclaimed within 14 days.
“At the expiry of this notice, all unclaimed portions shall be competitively offered to the general public on a willing buyer willing seller basis,” the cement company added.
Portland Cement also noted that it had set up an office within its premises along Namanga Road to attend specifically to those interested in purchasing pieces of land.

Havi on Taking Legal Action on Behalf of Residents
The announcement came even as demolitions continued on the controversial land with many people counting losses.
Earlier, former Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi invited the affected residents to reach him for legal action.
Further, Havi asked the residents to send him documents indicating ownership of the property, and a valuation report of the land.
“I will act for all the homeowners evicted from the property of East African Portland. Compile the documents pursuant to which you bought the property.
“Get a valuation report of the land and developments and get in touch with me for further action,” stated Havi.
Ruto Revokes Athi river Title Deeds
The demolitions began following an order by President William Ruto to the Ministry of Lands to revoke the title deeds of individuals who stablished their property at the Portland cement land in Mavoko.
He also gave the same order for pieces of land that had remained undeveloped for the past 10 years.
