Russia reported it had intercepted 121 Ukrainian drones overnight in what officials called a major aerial offensive.
According to authorities, a Ukrainian drone strike targeting the southern Russian region of Saratov resulted in one fatality and damage to multiple buildings, including an industrial site.
Saratov Governor Roman Busargin stated via Telegram on August 10 that debris from a downed drone struck three apartment units, prompting the evacuation of nearby residents.
“Several people needed medical care,” Busargin said, noting that emergency aid was administered at the scene, and one person was taken to the hospital.
Tragically, one person lost their life.
Ukraine Attacking Russia ~Reports
Video circulating on social media captured thick plumes of black smoke rising from what appeared to be an industrial area.
According to Ukrainian outlets, including RBK-Ukraine, a drone strike ignited a fire at an oil refinery in Saratov, the regional capital.

Russia’s SHOT Telegram channel, known for sharing information from law enforcement and security sources, reported that around eight explosions were heard across Saratov and Engels, two cities located on opposite sides of the Volga River.
Russia’s civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsia, announced on Telegram that flights to and from Saratov were temporarily suspended for roughly two hours early Sunday as a safety precaution.
Despite ongoing attacks across borders, both Russia and Ukraine continue to deny intentionally targeting civilian areas in the conflict that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Vladimir Putin Visit to US
This comes a day after President Donald Trump confirmed that a high-stakes meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, in Alaska, marking the first in-person summit between U.S. and Russian leaders since 2021.

Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, stating:
“The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska. Further details to follow.”
This announcement follows a flurry of diplomatic activity, including a visit by Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff to the Kremlin, reportedly aimed at achieving a breakthrough in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
