President William Ruto has responded to concerns of abductions and the killings of anti-finance Bill protestors by the Police Officers.
Ruto while speaking during a press conference at State House in Nairobi, confirmed that six people lost their lives during the demonstrations held on Tuesday June 25.
He said that the Gen Z protestors that were abducted by Police Officers had been identified in the different police stations.
“There will be no extrajudicial killings going forward. Ever since I came to office there has been no incidence of extrajudicial killings,” he stated.
“Civil society groups attributed statement and all the people mentioned have been found in police custody and those that were processed have since been released.”
He also stated that about 214 Kenyans got injured during the protests, 95 of them were treated and released while one is still in ICU.
Likewise, he announced that those protestors who lost their lives, the government will establish ma mechanism on how they will be accounted for.
Protestors Shot Dead by Police Officers
The anti-finance bill protests have witnessed some of the youth being killed while others abducted from their homes and workplaces.
On June 25 police opened fire on crowds trying to storm the Parliament buildings to protest against tax hikes.

The chaotic scenes were marked by live bullets and tear gas moments after Members of Parliament approved the bill.
Several protesters sustained serious bullet wounds during the violent confrontations.
In videos circulating online, bodies of some of the protesters who were shot dead were lying in a pool of blood outside Parliament.
Multiple people are feared dead after an alleged shooting incident was reported to have occurred in Githurai 45 on Wednesday June 25, 2024, night.
According to the OB report, the police used 758 rounds of rifle ammunition, as well as tear gas canisters, to disperse the protesters.
“During the demonstration 740, 7.62MM black CMM 7.62MM special and 18 rounds of 5.56*45MM were spent also 700 pieces of teargas canisters and 258 pieces of 37/38 teargas were used to disperse the violent rioters,” read the OB.

Abductions of Gen Z protestors
Popular political commentator and newspaper columnist Gabriel Oguda was allegedly abducted on Tuesday, June 25, hours to the anti-Finance Bill protests.
He was however released on Wednesday June 26 after Interventions from the Law Society of Kenya.
Osama Otero, who has been hosting popular X Spaces opposing the Finance Bill 2024 was also reportedly abducted by unknown people on June 25 and later released the same day.
Other X users who are suspected of having been abducted include Drey Mwangi, TemperCR7, Harriet, Franje, Worldsmith and Hilla254.
John Frank Githiaka alias Franje, Shadrack Kiprono, alias Shad Khalif and Dr. Austin Omondi, also known as Ja Prado, were also abducted and released after uproar.
