Two people have been killed and 11 injured after a truck lost control on the morning of August 6 in Kisii Town, crashing into pedestrians and vehicles near the busy Daraja Mbili market.
The accident occurred near Falcon, along the road heading toward Daraja Mbili, when the truck, reportedly traveling from Kisii town, veered off the road and rammed into the crowded market area.
The truck, which appeared to have experienced brake failure, flattened roadside stalls and several vehicles before coming to a stop.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and began transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.
Women selling vegetables at the busy roadside market were caught up in the chaos.
The scene quickly turned into a rescue, as people passing by and emergency workers helped pull the injured from the wreckage.
Police, led by the Kisii County Commander, and doctors from the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital arrived soon after to offer medical help.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Recent Road Accidents
On July 11, another fatal road accident claimed the lives of seven people along the Keroka-Sotik road in Nyamira County.
The tragic incident occurred near the Kijauri area when a truck overturned, leaving a matatu completely dismantled.
In videos seen by The Kenya Times, residents were seen rushing to rescue the victims. More images from the scene showed the front of the car severely crushed and defaced.
The lorry, carrying logs, lost control and crashed into vehicles, pedestrians, and roadside hawkers.
On July 27, a bus hit a tuk-tuk, leaving one person dead and 10 others nursing injuries.
The crash occurred near Kinyambu, along the busy highway in Makueni County.
The bus was headed from Nairobi to Mombasa when the incident happened.
Some of the victims were admitted to Amref-Kibwezi Hospital, while others are receiving treatment at Makindu Hospital.
Accident Report 2025
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) report detailed the number of road accident fatalities recorded in the first three months of 2025.

According to the report, 5,856 people were involved in road crashes between January 1 and March 31, marking a decrease of 1,908 cases compared to the same period in 2024.
Of those involved, 1,139 people lost their lives, a slight drop from the 1,166 fatalities recorded during the same period last year.
Another 3,316 individuals sustained serious injuries, while 2,693 suffered minor injuries.
Pedestrians remained the most vulnerable road users, with 420 fatalities reported, down from 434 in the first quarter of 2024.
189 passengers died in various crashes during the period, while 83 drivers lost their lives — both figures lower than the 243 passengers and 94 drivers killed in the same period last year.
