Shock as Njambi Koikai’s Dad Dies on Her Burial Day

The dad was conspicuously missing at Njambi's burial ceremony.

The father of the late media personality and reggae fanatic Mary Njambi Koikai famously known as Jahmby Fyah Mummah is dead.

Reports indicate that Ambassador Daniel Koikai died in the morning of June 14, 2024, the same day when Njambi was laid to rest following her death earlier in June.

People who attended the burial reported that Ambassador Koikai did not attend his daughter’s burial at the Lang’ata Cemetery.

However, it is not yet clear what could have led to the death of Jamby’s father.

Sources close to the family confirmed Daniel Koikai’s death saying that his body was discovered in his house on Friday morning.

In the tribute, the father noted that Njambi’s death was one of the difficult episodes of their family, while also recognizing the late Fyah Mummah’s political aspirations.

“It has been one of the most difficult episodes in my life, especially for your close family. Your sudden and unexpected death cut short your very bright and promising career at a time when you had already entered the political arena.

Having vied for the Member of Parliament for  Dagoretti South in the 2022 elections where you came an impressive fourth, my tribute to you will be my contribution to your life,” read the tribute.

In the tribute, he also noted that when they met, Njambi proceeded to join Arya Girls then to Makini School where she did her O-levels before joining Saint Christophers for her A levels.

“You are a shining beacon to many, and your legacy needs to be continued,” the father added in the tribute.

Njambi’s Memorial

The shocking death comes just a day after Ambassador Koikai penned an emotional tribute to the late media personality during her memorial service at the Nairobi Chapel.

Koikai moved family and friends with an emotional tribute to his daughter during the memorial service held on Thursday, June 13.

He began his tribute by making a confession of his own acts of omission and asking for Njambi’s forgiveness for where he did not meet his responsibilities as her dad.

“Dear Njambi, my daughter, the time has come for me to attorn for my acts of omission or commission on your final journey from this world,” he said.

Burial

A sombre mood engulfed Lee Funeral Home early Friday as the body of the late Njambi Koikai left the morgue for burial at Lang’ata cemetery.

Family and friends first gathered at the Funeral Home to view the body before proceeding at the cemetery, where the service was led by Nairobi Chapel clerics.

During the burial service, friends, family and former colleagues including celebrities paid glowing tributes to Njambi.

The late Fyah Mummah died on June 3, 2024, at the Nairobi Hospital following a long battle with endometriosis.
