Absa Bank Kenya PLC (Absa Kenya) has announced the appointment of Anne Nyongesa as the Company Secretary.
In a notice on February 26, Absa Kenya’s Board of Directors said Nyongesa’s appointment will be effective from February 28, 2025.

Nyongesa is currently the Head of Counsel, Governance, and Shared Services at KCB Bank Group.
“The Board of Directors of Absa Bank Kenya PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne Nyongesa as the Company Secretary of Absa Kenya with effect from 28 February 2025,” reads part of the notice.

Nyongesa will be replacing Wilson Murage who was serving as Company Secretary and is leaving Absa Kenya to pursue his career ambitions elsewhere.
“We take this opportunity to appreciate Murage for his dedicated service to the Board and wish him the very best as he pursues his next career opportunities,” the Board said.

Prior to joining Absa Kenya, Nyongesa held various legal, governance and company secretary positions in the financial services sector.
Absa Kenya said Nyongesa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in governance and company secretarial matters to Absa Kenya.
Positions Held Before Absa Bank Kenya Appointment
From June 2022 to 2025, she served as the head counsel, governance and shared service at KCB Bank Group.
Nyongesa worked as Britam’s assistant company secretary from November 2019 to November 2021.

She also served as legal manager at Consolidated Bank of Kenya for three years between May 2016 and November 2019.
Besides, Nyongesa worked as an assistant manager of legal and credit documentation at Bank of Africa.

Nyongesa worked at the KCB Bank Group for ten years holding different positions.
She started as a documentation manager for four years from January 2009 to April 2013.
Afterwards, she was moved to legal documentation manager.
She held this position for five years.
Between January 2014 and March 2015, she served as Company Secretary, KCB Foundation.

Anne Nyongesa Education
Nyongesa is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with seven-teen years of post-admission experience and is also a Certified Public Secretary (Kenya).
Additionally, she holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) Degree from the Universi-ty of South Africa, Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from the University of Nairobi and other qualifications.
She is a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) and a holder of a practicing certificate as company secretary issued under the Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya Act (Chapter 534, Laws of Kenya).
