The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has announced the average commercial bank lending rates for January 2025.
In a notice on March 11, CBK said the overall average lending rate is 16.64 per cent, down from 16.89 per cent in December 2024.

According to the CBK, Citibank N.A Kenya, Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited and the Consolidated Bank of Kenya are the banks with the lowest interest rates of 13.34 per cent, 13.97 per cent and 13.34 per cent respectively.
Kingdom Bank Limited has a lending rate of 14.02 followed by Guardian Bank Limited 14.17 and Paramount Bank Limited 14.90.

Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited comes next with a rate of 15.00.
UBA Kenya Bank Limited and Premier Bank Kenya Limited have a lending rate of 15.07.

Other banks with a lending slightly above 15 include Gulf African Bank Limited (15.45), Bank of India (15.47), Ecobank Kenya Limited (15.30) and Habib Bank A.G Zurich (15.53).
National Bank of Kenya Limited and Equity Bank Kenya Limited have rates of 16.04 and 16.08 respectively.
Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited, Development Bank of Kenya Limited and Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited, have lending rates of 16.85, 16.76 and 16.54 respectively.
Other banks with lending rates between 16 and 17 include DIB Bank Kenya Limited (16.72), Family Bank Limited (16.91) and KCB Bank Kenya Limited (16.80).
Prime Bank Limited has a lending rate of 17.37 followed by ABSA Bank Kenya PLC, Victoria Commercial Bank PLC (17.58), African Banking Corporations (17.67), I&M Bank Limited (17.79) and M-Oriental Bank Limited (17.94).

Banks with High Lending Rates
Banks with lending rates between 18 and 19 include Bank of Africa Kenya Limited (18.60), NCBA Bank Kenya Limited (18.05) and SBM Bank Kenya Limited (18.78).
Credit Bank PLC has a lending rate of 19.80 while Sidian Bank Limited has a lending rate of 19.50.
Banks with lending rates above 20 include HFC Limited (20.00), Commercial International Bank (CIB) Kenya Limited (20.01) Access Bank (Kenya) PLC (20.77).
CBK listed Middle East Bank (K) Limited as the bank with highest lending rate at 22.01.

CBK-Deposit Rates
When it comes to deposit rates, Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited offers the lowest rate at 3.00, followed by Premier Bank Kenya Limited at 3.62 and Access Bank (Kenya) PLC at 6.80.
The Consolidated Bank of Kenya offers a rate of 7.33, while Co-operative Bank of Kenya stands at 7.77.
Family Bank and HFC Limited have deposit rates of 7.03 and 7.58, respectively.
On the higher end, Credit Bank PLC offers the highest deposit rate at 14.42, followed closely by African Banking Corporation Limited at 14.26.
