The East African Breweries Limited (EABL) Board has announced the appointment of Angela Namwakira as the new Company Secretary with effect from October 24, 2023.
Notably, the appointment of Namwakira followed the resignation of the former Company Secretary Kathryne Maundu.
EABL group chairman, Martin Oduor-Otieno made the announcement in a public notice published in local dailies.
“In her tenure as Company Secretary since March 2020, Kathryne has demonstrated professionalism competence diplomacy and tact in establishing meaning relationships with the Board members, senior executives and stakeholders she has been a trusted advisor to the Board,” the notice said.
“We take this opportunity to wish Kathryne the very best in all her future endeavors,” EABL stated.

EABL appointed Kathryne Maundu as the company secretary on March 28, 2020.
She succeeded Joyce Munene who resigned from the position on March 27, 2020.
Notably, Kathryne is an accomplished expert in corporate governance within the East African region.
She is a Partner at Stamford Corporate Services LLP, part of Bowmans Coulson Harney LLP. Additionally, she was Safaricom’s Company Secretary from 2016.
However, she stepped down from her role at the telecommunications company in September 2023.
Further, Kathryn Maundu has worked under the Deloitte Uganda and Deloitte Tanzania.
EABL New Company Secretary
The new EABL company secretary, Angela Namwakira is a Partner at Adili Corporate Services Kenya.
Additionally, Angela is a corporate governance and legal professional with over 15 years of experience.
Moreover, she has also acted as Company Secretary to various reputable multinationals, locally quoted companies, not-for-profit entities, and small and medium sized enterprises spanning multiple sectors.
“She has a demonstrable track record as a corporate governance advisor and as a corporate secretarial practitioner, and she regularly advises on company law. statutory and regulatory compliance, strategic planning, corporate structuring, and immigration matters,” the public notice further stated.
Angela holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of Nairobi, and she is also an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Professionally, she is a practicing Certified Secretary and an accredited Governance Auditor.
Furthermore, she is a Member of the Women on Boards Network (WOBN).
“The Board congratulates Ms. Namwakira on her appointment and welcomes her to the Board,” the public notice concluded.
