Equity Bank Kenya has responded to its customers’ complaints regarding a temporary network downtime on the mobile banking platforms.
In a statement on May 15, Equity Bank said the slow services are as a result of a general network interruptions that has affected its banking services.
“Dear Member, we are experiencing an intermittent outage affecting some of our banking services. Kindly bear with us as the technical team works to restore the services,” read part of the statement.
However, the bank assured Kenyans that they are addressing the fluctuation affecting their services on the digital channels and would update them once the services are restored.
“We are working to restore the affected services as soon as possible. We are very sorry for the trouble on EazzyBiz. Our tech team is addressing a challenge affecting our services on the channel. Kindly bear with us a little longer,” added the bank.

Equity Bank Responds to its Customers
The bank further advised its customers to access banking services through their Agents, ATMs and merchants.
“We apologize for the inconvenience. In the meantime, you can access banking services through Equity Agents TMs & Merchants countrywide,” it said.
Moreover, this response comes after users on social media complained of having trouble in accessing the bank’s services on its platforms.

An X blogger Omwamba reported on the issue stating, “Equity Bank System Network appears to be down across all channels.”
Another X user named Kuchi Kee also complained about the system saying, “@keEquitybank your systems cannot be down from Mobile to Banking Halls, and there is no communication, especially since it is equity bank only.”
“I tried to deposit money from my M-Pesa, but it failed. When I went straight to my equity mobile bank, I realized the app had cleared all my accounts and shows nothing. I tried to use *247# to see my balance, but it shows nothing. I’m stuck. I hope my little funds are safe,” Obino Brian posted.
Wilfred (@farasimzee) complained that the bank had decided to render them equivocally unattended to. “I’m stranded here! All your systems are not working,” he said.
Intermittent Data Outages in the Country
The massive internet outage that has been experienced in the country is as a result of faults in the under-sea cables that connect the region to the rest of the world through South Africa.
It swept across East Africa, cutting out internet access to more than 80 million people with Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Madagascar and Tanzania impacted.
Liquid Intelligent Technologies Group Chief Technology and Innovation Officer (CTIO), Ben Roberts reported faults in the Eastern Africa Submarine Cable System (EASSy) and the Seacom cables.
