Heavy rains are expected to begin in some parts of Kenya, specifically in Nairobi areas days after the country experienced extreme heat.
In a report by the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) Kenyans are being advised to plan accordingly.
“Some parts of the county are expected to begin receiving rainfall this weekend. It is advisable to plan accordingly, ” read the report.
According to the update, the rains are to start from February 24 to March, 1, 2024.
Further, the weatherman explained that beginning Saturday, February 24, there will be moderate rainfall in the morning from 6am-12am followed by moderate showers in the afternoon then partial cloudy.

Additionally, Clouds are expected on Sunday and Monday mornings followed by sunny intervals in the afternoon then partially cloudy and light showers respectively.

As from February 27 to February 28, there will be cloudy and light rains in the morning, moderate showers and sunny intervals in the afternoon and moderate showers at night.
Subsequently, light rains are expected on Thursday 29 while clear clouds on Friday of March 1.
Moderate to light rain is expected in different parts of Nairobi including, Dagoretti, Westlanda, Langa’ata, Kibra and Wilson.
Also, Roysambu, Embakasi, Kasarani and Makadara are among the affected areas.

The heavy rainfall follows a recent statement by KMD cautioning of high day-time temperatures of beyond 30 degrees Celsius.
Heatwave Scare
The met department further advised that some counties would experience low nighttime temperatures of below 10 degrees Celsius.
“High daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C expected in various counties, while some parts of certain counties may experience low nighttime temperatures below 10°C,” the Met Department’s statement read in part.
At the same time, the weatherman urged Nairobi residents and people in areas likely to experience high temperatures to stay hydrated and protect themselves from sun rays.
“Make sure to stay hydrated and protect yourself from the sun’s rays during the hot days, and bundle up warmly for the cooler nights,” the Weatherman added.
In the past two weeks, Nairobi residents have been raising concerns over the unusually high temperatures experience.
On Saturday, city residents walk up to light showers.
