The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has identified areas that are expected to receive rainfall from February 14 to February 18, 2026.
According to a report published on Friday, February 13, rainfall is expected in several areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, with conditions transitioning to sunny, dry weather.
“Several parts of the country are expected to be sunny and dry. However, rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Southeastern Lowlands,” read part of the forecast.
However, hot conditions are expected in the coastal regions of Kenya.
Kenya Met Names Regions to Experience Rainfall
Kenya Met predicted that counties in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and the Lake Victoria Basin will experience showers and thunderstorms in a few places during the afternoons and nights from February 14 to February 18, while sunny conditions will dominate in the mornings.
Counties in these regions include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans-Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, and Vihiga.
Temperatures in these western and Rift Valley zones are expected to reach a maximum of about 31°C, then gradually drop to around 29°C, with minimum temperatures between 9°C and 10°C.
Similarly, parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley are set to experience cloudy mornings, with sunny intervals and occasional afternoon showers in a few places.
Areas in the highlands east of the rift valley are Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Nairobi Counties
Temperatures in these areas will range from 30°C to 32°C, while during the night, the temperature may drop to 6°C in some locations.

The Southeastern Lowlands, including counties such as Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni, are also expected to receive intermittent showers, particularly in the afternoons and evenings, although mornings will largely remain sunny.
Maximum temperatures there will range between 32°C and 34°C.
Areas to Experience Dry Conditions During the Five Days
The northwestern and northeastern regions will experience persistently hot and dry weather.
Areas in the Northeastern Region, including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, and the North-western regions, are Turkana and Samburu Counties.

During the day, temperatures in these zones are expected to range from 38°C to 39°C, with mostly sunny conditions throughout the five-day period and partly cloudy nights.
Additionally, Coastal counties are expected to experience warm conditions, with temperatures between 33°C and 34°C during the day and about 21°C to 23°C at night.
Although most coastal areas will remain sunny, isolated showers may occur in a few locations.
