Nairobi to Experience Cloudy Nights as Kenya Met Lists Areas Set for Light Rains

Kmd Lists Areas To Receive Light Rains As Nairobi Braces For Cloudy Nights

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast mostly sunny and dry conditions across the country between September 6 and 10, with light rainfall expected in a few counties.

In its forecast issued on September 5, KMD said Nairobi residents can expect sunny intervals in the morning and afternoon, followed by partly cloudy nights throughout the five-day period.

Daytime temperatures in the capital are expected to reach a maximum of between 25°C and 27°C, while night temperatures will range between 11°C and 14°C.

“Most parts of the country are expected to be sunny and dry. However, light rainfall may occur in a few counties,” read part of the forecast.

KMD Releases Weather Forecast For Coastal Regions

Mombasa and Kwale are expected to experience intermittent morning showers. Mombasa will have light showers on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, while Kwale is forecast to receive showers on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Kilifi and Lamu will also experience some rainfall during the period. Kilifi is expected to receive light showers from Tuesday to Thursday, while Lamu may have showers on Sunday and Thursday.

KMD noted that Tana River is expected to remain mostly sunny, with light showers forecast on Thursday. Taita Taveta will similarly experience sunny intervals, with light showers possible on Wednesday.

Eastern and North Eastern Kenya

Garissa is expected to experience light afternoon showers on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, with daytime temperatures reaching 35°C later in the week.

Wajir will remain largely sunny, with maximum temperatures of up to 34°C. Mandera will record some of the country’s highest temperatures, reaching 38°C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Marsabit will remain mostly sunny, although light rains are expected on Thursday.

Central Kenya

Sunny intervals will dominate Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a and Kiambu, although some areas will experience light showers.

Nyandarua is forecast to receive afternoon showers on Sunday and Tuesday, while Nyeri may experience showers on Sunday and Tuesday.

KMD stated that Kirinyaga will have light showers during the night from Monday through Thursday, with light rains expected on Thursday morning.

Murang’a may receive light rains on Thursday morning and a light shower on Wednesday night.

Eastern Region

Tharaka Nithi and Embu will largely experience sunny intervals, with occasional light showers at night. Tharaka Nithi is expected to have showers on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, while Embu may receive showers on Monday and Wednesday nights.

Kitui is forecast to receive light showers on Wednesday afternoon, while Machakos and Makueni will remain largely sunny.

Rift Valley

Most parts of the Rift Valley will remain sunny, with isolated showers expected in some counties.

West Pokot, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu may experience light showers on Tuesday afternoon, while Nandi is also expected to receive light showers on Tuesday.

Kericho will have light afternoon showers on Monday and Tuesday, while Bomet may receive showers on Tuesday.

Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, Baringo, Laikipia and Elgeyo Marakwet are expected to remain largely sunny, although temperatures will vary significantly across the region.

Samburu will record some of the coolest nights, with minimum temperatures dropping to 8°C on Tuesday.

Western Kenya

Kakamega, Bungoma and Busia are expected to experience sunny intervals, with occasional afternoon showers.

Siaya is forecast to receive light afternoon showers from Sunday to Tuesday, while Kisumu may receive a light shower on Monday afternoon.

Vihiga and Homa Bay will largely remain sunny and dry throughout the forecast period.

In the Southwestern region, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira are expected to experience sunny intervals, with light showers mainly on Tuesday and Wednesday.
