Nairobi Residents Warned of 3-Day Traffic Disruption on Major Road Leading to CBD

The disruption is to allow the contractor on site to improve sections of the road.

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has cautioned motorists within Nairobi County of traffic disruptions which are set to affect three sections along a major road leading to the Central Business District (CBD).

KURA in a notice dated Saturday, May 18, 2024, highlighted that traffic disruptions are set to affect three sections along the Valley Road.

The Authority said that the road would be closed in phases beginning with the section from the Integrity Centre (Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters) to the Ralph Bunche Road section set to be closed on Saturday at 6 am.

“We wish to notify the general public that there will be traffic disruption along Valley Road, Nairobi as from 6 AM Saturday, 18th May till 6 PM Monday 20th May 2024,” read part of the notice.

According to KURA, the disruption is to allow the contractor on site to improve sections of the road.

The Authority further listed two other sections along the road where closures will be done.

KURA lists Affected Sections Along Valley Road

According to KURA, the Ralph Bunche Road-Argwings Kodhek Roundabout section will be closed on Sunday, May 19.

The Argwings Kodhek Roundabout-Ngong Road Roundabout section on its part will be closed on Monday, May 20.

KURA noted that the contractor has scheduled to work both day and night so as to minimize the works period and ensure minimal disruptions.

Motorists plying the route were further urged to exercise caution and seek alternative routes as the Authority maintained on being committed to transform Urban Mobility.

Those set to be affected by the closure include motorists heading to various institutions and offices located in Hurlingham Estate such as the Department of Defense (DOD) offices.

Also, motorists relying on the Argwings Kodhek road that leads to the Yaya Center and those linking up to Ngong Road and Mbagathi way from the Integrity Center direction will be affected.

Consequently, motorists can opt to use the Ngong road section along Community and the Milimani Law courts that begins at the All-Saints Cathedral Church leading to towards the Kenya National Library (KNL).

Motorists can also opt to use alternative routes such as Milimani and State House roads.
