A 73-year-old widow has called on Embu County Governor Cecily Mbarire to intervene and help her reclaim unrestricted access to her home.
Through an open letter to the governor, the woman identified as Zainabu Ramadhan Njoka decried that the entrance to her home has been permanently blocked by the county government of Embu.
She reported that an employee of the county government of Embu fenced the road fronting the entrance to her home and put up a building. Hence blocking her entrance.
“Your Excellency, the entrance to my home is now permanently blocked after someone in your government saw it fit to fence off the road fronting it and put up a permanent building (hall) on it.” Zainabu wrote.

The widow says she owns the land-plot number Gaturi/Githimu/2487, a freehold property in Dallas Estate, Kirimari Ward in Embu County.
Similarly, Zainabu told the governor that the road was carved out when her family was sub-dividing land almost five decades ago.
According to the widow, the land has since been used and still exists as a road on the RIM to date.
Zainabu laments that she is forced to beg for passage through her neighbor’s property while perpetrators of this act enjoy unrestricted access to their homes.
“Your Excellency, while I am forced to beg for passage through my neighbor’s property to reach my house in my sunset days, the schemers and executers of this act of impunity are enjoying unrestricted access to their homes,” Zainabu’s letter reads.
County Government Ignored Directives of the National Lands Commission
Furthermore, the 73-year-old states that she pays land rates for the same property the county government gives her a hard time accessing.
She revealed that she had sought intervention of the National Lands Commission (NLC) on the issue.

However, the directive from the NLC to the county preventing them from constructing a building on the road, was ignored.
Nevertheless, the 73-year-old widow has asked Governor Cecily Mbarire to help her get justice and regain unlimited access to her home.
“Your Excellency, I implore you to intervene and order the reopening of the road so that I can regain unrestricted access to my house. Please end my suffering at the hands of county officials,” she wrote.
