‘Yesu Wa Tongaren’ Summoned for Questioning

Yesu wa Tongaren pleaded with the police not to arrest him saying he had not done any wrong to warrant an arrest

Bungoma police commander Francis Kooli has summoned Eliud Wekesa alias ‘Yesu wa Tongaren’ to appear for questioning on Wednesday, May 10

Yesu wa Tongaren pleaded with the police not to arrest him saying he had not done any wrong to call for his arrest.

Moreover, the Bungoma police commander summoned Yesu wa Tongaren of the New Jerusalem sect for questioning over alleged questionable religious teachings.

He noted that he only spreads the gospel.

“I know even the police commander that has summoned me is a human being with wisdom. I understand he wants to talk to me about issues to do with my church and how it is being run,” he said.

“Maybe they are hearing things that don’t exist because I have been to the OCPD and OCS and I have no issue, I only preach the gospel.” He added.

The self-proclaimed ‘Yesu’ further stated that arresting him will be unwarranted as he abides by the law.

The move comes even after President William Ruto formed a Judicial commission of inquiry to probe the Shakahola tragedy.

The Lady Justice Jessie Lessit-led commission will establish what led to the killing of the now over 100 people in the church owned by pastor Paul Mackenzie.

Furthermore, the task force will make inquiries into the deaths, torture, inhumane and degrading treatments of members of the Good News International Church.
