Detectives have arrested two women for posting photos of a gun and threatening men. In a statement on April 15, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Sharon Auma and Nancy Atieno Obura were traced and arrested by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, Nyanza Region, in collaboration with their DCI counterparts from Nyando in Kisumu County.
The detectives recovered a Canik pistol in their possession during the arrest.
Sharon was arrested after a report was received that she shared a controversial update on her WhatsApp status
She posted a photo of herself brandishing a pistol while issuing a warning that any man who dared to dump her would face severe consequences.
Detectives responded swiftly to the issues and apprehended Sharon in Awasi town.
Upon questioning, she led officers to a rented two-bedroom house belonging to her friend, and now co-accused, Nancy Atieno Obura.
The pistol in question was found with an empty magazine after a thorough search of the house.
The gun was cleverly wrapped in clothes and stashed in a basin under the bed.
Also recovered was a fake motorcycle number plate bearing the number KMGG 805M.
Both suspects are now in custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment, as detectives pursue more leads to arrest more suspects in connection to the firearm.

Application Process
Here is a step-by-step process to become a licensed gun owner in Kenya is provided below:
1.Send a request to the Firearms Bureau: Visit the Kenya Firearms Bureau in Nairobi.
The Chief Licensing Officer will give you a specified application form for completion.
2.CID Clearance – Apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct from DCI (in case you have not).
3.Submit the properly filled-out application form – Submit the application form to the nearest police station.

Other required documents include
- A copy of an Identification card or passport.
- Certificate of Good Conduct from the DCI.
- Psychiatric report from a government hospital.
- Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC).
4.Application Review: The County Security Committee and the District Security Intelligence Committee will examine the application.
5.Inspector General of Police clearances: IG receives names of applicants who have undergone background checks and cleared to apply for firearms.
6.Issuance of the Firearm Certificate or License: Cleared applicants will receive will be given a gun license after approval by the IG.
