A Grade 9 student at CITAM Schools Ngong in Nairobi has died after falling from the rooftop of a building.
In a statement issued to parents and guardians on July 13, 2026, CITAM Schools Ngong said the incident occurred on Monday morning.
According to the school, the student received urgent medical attention before being rushed to Karen Hospital following consultations with her parents. She was, however, pronounced dead on arrival.
“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I write to inform you of a tragic incident that occurred at our school this morning,” the Head of School said in the statement.
“We experienced a serious incident involving a Grade 9 student who fell from the rooftop. The Head of School and our staff acted immediately to ensure she received urgent medical attention.”

The school said the student’s death was a devastating loss to the entire school community and conveyed its condolences to her parents, family, friends and classmates.
“This is a devastating loss for our school community, and our deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to the parents, family, friends and classmates of our beloved student,” the statement read.
Following the incident, the school administration reported the matter to Ngong Police Station and said it is fully cooperating with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.

The institution said it will provide professional counselling and pastoral support to the bereaved family, learners and members of staff affected by the tragedy.
“As a school rooted in faith, we are turning to God for strength,” the school said.
The school also urged parents, learners and members of the public to avoid speculating or sharing unverified information on social media.
“We respectfully request all members of our school community to refrain from speculation or the circulation of unverified information, whether in person or on social media, out of respect for the bereaved family and to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigations,” the statement said.
Police and DCI detectives are expected to establish the circumstances that led to the student’s fatal fall.

Grade 10 Student Dies After Fight with Classmate
The incident comes a day after another student died in a separate school tragedy in Kiambu County where detectives are investigating the death of a Grade 10 student at Thika High School following an alleged altercation with a fellow learner.
According to police, the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. after evening preps, when students had gathered for routine evening prayers.
Police said the school’s management reported that two Grade 10 students had fought, after which one of them collapsed after falling to the ground.
The 15-year-old student was found unconscious in a second-floor classroom and rushed to the school’s dispensary, where he received first aid before being referred to Thika Level 5 Hospital for specialized treatment.
He was, however, pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, prompting police to launch investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
