The Higher Education Loan Board (HELB) has open applications for the Civil Servants Training Revolving (TRF) Fund.
In an update on January 5, HELB explained that the loan is meant for civil servants including employees of a Ministry, County government or National Police service seeking to pursue post-graduate education.
“Civil servants, this one’s for you! Application is now open for the Training Revolving Fund – TRF Loans.
This fund is set aside for the Ministry of Public Service works in collaboration with HELB for Civil Servants in the National Government, County Governments, and National Police Service to pursue postgraduate studies,” said HELB.

The loan amount is up to ksh.500,000 per year with no processing fees.
Additionally, the repayment is by check-off with a period of up to 72 months (6 years).
“Interest charged is 4% per year on reducing balance,” stated the board.
Requirements
Applicants must have an admission letter from a recognized university or training institution in Kenya.
Also, they must provide a recommendation letter from the employer.
Further, interested employees must avail copies of 3 months latest pay slips.

The slips must be certified by the employer and with a net pay above a third (1/3) of the basic pay.
HELB will also need a certified copy of the National Identification Card (ID) and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN.
In addition, applicants must provide copies of National ID from two guarantors employed within the civil service.
They must also have a recent colored passport size photograph.
