Highest Paying KUCCPS Degree, Diploma & Certificate Courses

The course you choose through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) can determine your career trajectory, and in Kenya, certain degree, diploma, and certificate programs stand out for their high earning potential.

Although many believe that only university degrees guarantee financial success, there are equally lucrative diploma and certificate courses that provide strong job prospects.

With an increasingly dynamic job market, understanding which fields offer the best pay and stability can help students and professionals make informed career decisions.

Traditionally, degree programs like medicine, law, and engineering have been seen as the gold standard for financial success. 

However, as industries evolve, new fields requiring a diploma and certificate level of education have emerged as some of the high-paying careers, attracting top talent.

Highest Paying KUCCPS Degree Courses 

1. Bachelor of Aviation

This is one of the best-paying degree courses in Kenya. Aviation is one of the top-paying careers in the world, although the course can be expensive to pursue. 

A few institutions offer the course, including the Kenya School of Flying and the Kenya Aeronautical College.

Other flying schools in Kenya include the Kenya School of Flying, East Africa School of Aviation, Ninety-Nines Flying School, Nairobi Flight Training Ltd, Flight Training Center, and Capital Connect Aviation

Students require good grades in mathematics, physics, and geography to qualify for the course.

A pilot with limited experience makes about Ksh132k per month, while the highest-paid professional might earn up to Ksh420k per month.

2. Bachelor of Architecture and Quantitative Survey

Kenya is a developing nation, hence, there is a huge demand for architectural solutions. Students require art, creativity and mathematical skills to pursue this course and a minimum grade of B+ and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is required.

The amount that independent architects make depends on the scale of the projects they design and the clients they work with. A starting income of Ksh50,000 is possible, however, the salary can double or triple.

Most architects in Kenya make between Ksh80,000 to Ksh283,000.

3. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery

This degree involves rigorous learning, and graduates are in high demand, making it one of the best-paying degree courses in Kenya. 

You need to have a KSCE score of at least a B+ in order to enroll in a medicine course, and the coursework for a degree in medicine and surgery typically lasts at least 5 years.

Doctors at the Karen Hospital and Mater Nairobi Hospital pocket as high as Ksh400,000 monthly.

4. Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering

Software engineers typically make between Ksh200,000 and Ksh500,000 every month, especially at large corporations like Safaricom, IBM, and Google. 

In Kenya, a lot of businesses market themselves online. Mobile apps are very popular for entertainment, banking, studying, and much more, providing a huge market for web developers and software engineers.

5. Bachelor of Actuarial Science

Actuarial science is among the best-paying degree courses in Kenya, especially with an additional professional certificate from the IFOA and SOA. 

Graduates can seek employment from RBA, IRA, CIC insurance, Alexander Forbes, Old Mutual, Kenya RE, Nairobi Securities Exchange and many other financial organizations. 

A competent actuary in Kenya earns Ksh300,000 monthly. The average salary you can earn with an actuarial degree and professional certification in actuarial science is between Ksh180,000 and Ksh1 to 5 million monthly.

6. Degree in Special Needs Education

A graduate from this course can get employment as a daycare educator, special education schoolteacher, or academy director with a degree in special education. 

It is one of the best-paying degree Courses in Kenya because it gives students the tools to instruct scholars with literacy problems and other difficulties.

7. Degree in Law

The average lawyer in Kenya makes about Ksh133,000 per month, although the most successful ones can make up to Ksh2 million.

Lawyers who represent politicians, business moguls, and criminal defense attorneys frequently earn more than Ksh5 million.

However, students must pass their KCSE with at least a B plain in order to get a place in university for the course.

After that, they must enroll in the Kenya Law School for two years before they start working as high court advocates.

8. Bachelor of Pharmacy

A Bachelor of Pharmacy is one of the top degree courses to pursue in Kenya.

Graduates have the flexibility to start their own pharmacy, establish a clinic, or secure employment in the healthcare sector.

On average, pharmacists in Kenya earn a monthly salary of approximately Ksh200,000.

9. Degree in Statistics

If you have a strong aptitude for math and science, a degree in Statistics can open numerous job opportunities after graduation. With this qualification, one can secure employment or work as a consultant.

Moreover, one can choose to specialize in fields such as data analysis, accounting, demography, financial analysis, or actuarial science, even while still in college.

10.  Bachelor of Accounting

Pursuing a degree in Accounting from a recognized college or university is the first step toward becoming an accountant.

Additionally, one can obtain a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification after fulfilling the education and work experience requirements set by the Kenyan government.

Becoming a CPA requires further studies and specialized training. As a certified accountant, one can expect a starting salary of around Ksh150,000.

Highest Paying Diploma Courses 

1. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

As a top-tier engineering diploma, this course offers numerous job opportunities in automotive companies, manufacturing industries, and industrial plants.

Graduates can also start their own mechanical repair and maintenance businesses.

It is offered at Murang’a University College, Multimedia University, Machakos University, and the Technical University of Kenya.

2. Diploma in Human Resource Management

A human resource manager is an important component of any organization, including businesses. 

The course is available at institutions such as the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), Kisumu Polytechnic, Meru Polytechnic, Nyeri Polytechnic, and Runyejes TVC. 

3. Diploma in Information Technology

The diploma equips students with essential ICT, software, and technological skills.

Given the country’s digital transformation, demand for IT professionals continues to grow. Graduates can work for government agencies, businesses, NGOs, or start their own tech businesses.

It is offered at institutions like KCA University, JKUAT, African Nazarene University, Mount Kenya University, Zetech University, and Kenyatta University.

4. Diploma in Quantity Surveying

This is one of the most sought-after diploma courses in Kenya, given the increasing demand in real estate development, land subdivision, and infrastructure projects.

Graduates can pursue careers in commercial quantity surveying, government roles, or private practice. The course is available at institutions such as the Nairobi Institute of Technology and various TVET centers.

5. Diploma in Nursing

A Diploma in Nursing is a promising career path and is mainly offered at Kenya Medical Training Colleges across the country.

Graduates can find employment in government hospitals, private healthcare facilities, or international health organizations.

6. Diploma in Project Management and Evaluation

Project management professionals are in high demand across government sectors, NGOs, and private enterprises, with starting salaries ranging between Ksh50,000 to Ksh90,000.

The course is available at the Kenya Institute of Management, JKUAT, Moi University, Kenyatta University, KCA University, and Zetech University.

7. Diploma in Real Estate Management

With Kenya’s booming real estate sector, this diploma is highly marketable.

Graduates can work for real estate firms or establish their own businesses, offering property management, sales, and consultancy services.

Leading institutions offering this course include the University of Nairobi, Pioneer University, and Gretsa University.

8. Diploma in Food & Beverage Production

This diploma is ideal for those interested in the hospitality and food industry.

Graduates can work in hotels, restaurants, catering businesses, or start their own food-related ventures.

Institutions offering this program include the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies and Thika Institute of Business Studies.

9. Diploma in Sales and Marketing

Sales and marketing professionals are highly sought after in Kenya.

With a shortage of skilled personnel, even certificate holders and high school graduates often find employment in this field.

The course is offered at the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies, Maseno University, and the Technical University of Mombasa.

10. Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management

As procurement and supply chain continue to grow as a profession, skilled personnel are in high demand across government institutions, private firms, and NGOs.

The course is available at KCA University, African Nazarene University, and Egerton University.
