Data by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) shows that 18-degree courses attracted a single student each nationally.
Further, the figures show that the other 104 courses also attracted a maximum of ten students each, depicting how the current generation is avoiding certain disciplines.

Shockingly, some of these courses failed to attract many students even though they are regarded as important for the development of the country.
This has raised questions about the structuring of degree courses that cannot attract students by the university administrations.

Courses with One Student – KUCCPS
According to the analysis, KUCCPS placed only one student to pursue Bachelor of Science courses. These faculties include Food Security, Horticulture, Soil Science, Forestry, Dry Land, Agriculture, Biological Sciences, Geophysics and Mineralogy, Aquaculture and Fisheries and Technolgy.

Most Preferred Courses
According to the analysis, Education, Arts, Commerce and Computer Science got the highest applications from students who attained the university entry grade of C+ and above.
Bachelor of Education got the highest number with around 30,000 students placed.
This includes 20,151students who will pursue Bachelor of Education (Arts) and another 9,431 students who will study Bachelor of Education (Science).
Bachelor of Arts comes in second with 5,567 students followed by Bachelor of Commerce with 4,367 students admitted.
Further, Computer Science will admit 2,912 students while Bachelor of Science Agricultura Education and Extension got 1,657 students.
Also in the list is Human Resource Management with 1,638, Bachelor of Science IT with 1,459, Criminology with 1,395 and Bachelor of Law with 1,200 students.

Government Core Courses
Some of the courses are among the listed by the government in 2021 as core for the Big Four Agenda and Vision 2030.
In the government rankings, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy topped the list.
Also listed were Architectural Studies, Engineering (Surveying), Real Estate, Urban and Reginal Planning, and Design and Computing.
Built Environment and Design Courses Construction, Landscape Architecture, Agriculture, Health Sciences, Food Sciences and Natural Resource Management were also named.
Further, the government prioritized Medical Laboratory Science and Technology, Animal Science, Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Radigraphy, Agribusiness, and Management and Sports.
The other courses were Food and Nutrition, Medical Psychology, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Enviromental Health, Community Health and Development, and Wildlife Science and Management.
