Parklands Arya Girls High School is a public extra-county girls’ boarding secondary school located along Third Avenue in Parklands, Westlands Sub-county, Nairobi.

The institution lies approximately 50 metres from Aga Khan Hospital, just before Highridge Shopping Centre, placing it within one of Nairobi’s long-established residential and educational zones.

Parklands Arya Historical Background and Status

Parklands Arya Girls High School was founded in 1957 by the Arya Samaj community as Arya Samaj Girls School, before later being renamed Parklands Arya Girls High School.

In 1984, the institution was formally handed over to the Government of Kenya, becoming a public secondary school under the Ministry of Education.

Parklands Arya Girls is classified as an Extra County secondary school, category C2, and operates as a girls-only boarding institution.

It has a student population of more than 1,000 learners, organised into five streams per class.

Most students are drawn from Nairobi County, with others coming from various parts of the country.

The school is managed as a public institution under the Ministry of Education, with oversight from a Board of Management (BOM).

Day-to-day administration is handled by the principal and senior teaching staff in accordance with the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Service Commission’s guidelines.

The school insists on discipline, academic focus, and holistic development through structured academic timetables and organised co-curricular programmes.

Academic Performance and Programs

Parklands Arya Girls High School offers the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) curriculum and is transitioning to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system in line with Ministry of Education reforms.

Under the senior school structure, beginning January 2026, the school admits Grade 10 learners and provides approved subject combinations across several pathways.

These include Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Social Sciences, Languages and Literature, and Arts and Sports Science.

The school provides a broad range of subject options, including Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, Business Studies, Christian Religious Education, Islamic Religious Education, Computer Studies, French, Arabic, Kiswahili, and English.

Teaching staff have undergone retraining by the Teachers Service Commission and the Ministry of Education to support the transition to CBE and ensure curriculum compliance.

The school regularly posts results that place it among the most competitive extra-county girls’ schools, with a significant proportion of candidates attaining grades that qualify them for university admission.

Co-Curricular Activities

Parklands Arya Girls High School places strong emphasis on co-curricular activities as part of its holistic education programme.

Students take part in a wide range of sports and games, including athletics, ball games, and indoor sports.

Additionally, the school encourages participation in science fairs and innovation-related activities, where students showcase projects and demonstrate practical application of classroom knowledge.

These forums reinforce problem-solving skills, creativity, and interest in STEM-related fields.

Through its co-curricular programme, Parklands Arya Girls High School aims to support the physical, social, emotional, and creative development of learners, ensuring the production of well-rounded students alongside academic achievement.

The school maintains boarding facilities, classrooms, science laboratories, computer studies facilities, and spaces for co-curricular activities.

According to the school, its alumni network is active and continues to support the institution through mentorship, community engagement, and school development initiatives.

Former students have been involved in initiatives such as academic mentorship programmes, support for learning facilities, and outreach activities that contribute to the school’s long‑term growth.
