An Air India flight headed from Phuket to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing in Thailand on Friday, June 13, 2025.
Airport authorities who spoke to Reuters said the plane landed after receiving a bomb threat.
The flight, AI 379, had 156 passengers on board.
Airports of Thailand (AOT) officials said all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft after it returned to Phuket following emergency protocols.
“All 156 passengers on flight AI 379 had been escorted from the plane, in line with emergency plans,” the official said.
According to flight tracker Flightradar24, the aircraft took off from Phuket airport bound for the Indian capital at 9.30 a.m.
However, it made a wide loop around the Andaman Sea and landed back on the southern Thai island.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737, spent a significant amount of time circling over the Andaman Sea before turning.
Thai authorities conducted a thorough preliminary search of the aircraft upon its return.
“Authorities have not found a bomb on Air India aircraft after a preliminary search,” an airport official said.
AOT did not provide details on the bomb threat, and Air India has responded to the reports.
