James Mwangi Gakuya is a politician serving as a Member of Parliament of Embakasi North Constituency, Nairobi County.
He is widely recognized for his outspoken nature and his fearlessness in addressing political issues.

The outspoken legislator has been a fierce critic of Willliam Ruto’s administration and has on numerous times called out the President for betraying the impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Gakuya clinched the Embakasi North seat in the 2022 general elections under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Political career of James Gakuya
The legislator has been an MP for the last 11 years.
He was first elected as an Embakasi North legislator under the National Alliance (TNA) party in the 2013 general elections under the Jubilee coalition.
Gakuya garnered 31,590 votes against his closest rival from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)Party Joan Otieno Macodawa who managed 26,273 votes.
Before joining the National Assembly James served as a councillor, what is referred to as Member of County Assembly (MCA) today for Muthurwa Ward from 2002 to 2013 within Kamkunji constituency.
Under his tenure as an MP, Gakuya has served as a member of the health, trade and budget committee in the National Assembly.
Education Background
The Embaksi North Legislator graduated from Kenya Methodist University (KEMU) with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, which he pursued from 2015 to 2017.
Additionally, he holds a Diploma from Nairobi Private E – Friends Center which he pursued from 2009 to 2011. He attended Shaurimoyo Educational Centre Secondary School from 2001 to 2005 where he attained a B- grade.
